Marketing Nostalgia

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reinvigorated my love for the franchise. I had these feelings before the movie was even released and that is the brilliance of marketing nostalgia. Through a series of well-orchestrated previews, commercials, interviews, video games and teases Disney and Lucasfilm have touched upon my heart strings. My favorite piece of the campaign is the theatrical trailer which pleases with visuals without giving away the plot.

Watch the official trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, coming to theaters December 18, 2015.

This is how you tease a movie! The Verge recently posted an article about Star Wars trailers and the differences that set them apart. It's one of the reasons Star Wars is so special. I am not a huge fan of the prequels (nor am I hater), but, the movies' trailers forced an emotional takeover of my body. I don't mind being prayed on like this because it reminds me what I love about movies, television shows, books and music. I recently created my own bit of nostalgia combining my love of Star Wars and Dumber and Dumber.
