iPhoto Backup Tip

If you're an iPhoto user and are looking for a free backup solution Google has created an easy to use product that does just that called Google Drive. The service, which gives you 5gb of free storage, puts a folder on your computer. Any files, or folders with files in them, that  you save to the "Google Drive" folder are saved in the cloud, which means that anything you put in the folder is backed up by Google. Here is a step by step process on how to back up all of your iPhoto photos.

  1. Exit iPhoto
  2. Click the Finder icon on the dock
  3. Double click Pictures
  4. Drag "iPhoto Library" to your Google Drive folder
  5. Double click iPhoto Library

 

All your photos will be uploaded to Google's servers. Leave your computer while the upload happes, it could take hours. Any photos you add to iPhoto Library will automatically be uploaded to the cloud, you don't have to do anything additional. Hope it works for you!
