Proud Alumni

The end of June typically means drum corps in Southern California. I've been attending the So Cal shows since 1997 and, as I understand it, the local shows have been around long before that. The Saturday night show, which has been at Citrus College and currently resides at Mt. San Antonio College, is Pacific Crest's home show and has recently seen attendance numbers in the thousands. With the explosion of Facebook it's easier than ever before to be an alumni of a group and get in touch with like minded individuals. This past week alumni and fans of Pacific Crest have been sharing photos, comments, sarcasm, and all around camaraderie that has the feeling of being at a weekend family BBQ.

In 2000 PC had many older members, both in age and experience, and as an 18 year old kid I didn't venture outside my section much. The members I marched with in the baritone section were great, however, I shied away from meeting folk outside of my spot in the arc (please note: I think the brass line consisted of less than 50 people at this point). My only regret of drum corps is that hesitation to meet new people.

I've been fortunate to work for the organization since 2004. In that time I've had the pleasure to meet some of the most diverse, inspirational and amazing individuals that all share one characteristic; we are family. PC's Alumni Association is growing by the day and if you have not joined yet, get involved! It's really been fantastic seeing and meeting people I marched with but may not have known that well.

Pacific Crest grows stronger everyday. Here's to a family that never stops accepting new members!
