The Pulse Family
When one chooses to support the marching arts one chooses to join a family. In 2012 Pulse Percussion accepted me into their family and this past weekend their seven month odyssey known as the winter percussion season came to an end. I've never quite understood the "percussion thing" as I was a brass player during my performance years. Watching POW Percussion prepare for their final performance at WGI Finals it started to sink in. POW was surrounded by staff, alumni, fans and current Pulse members performing their asses off to the captivated crowd. I stood, watched and enjoyed the scene while reconnecting with alumni, colleagues and friends I consider family.
Words can't describe the experience of Pulse Percussion performing their show, fans screaming, some unable to scream because they are in shock. The most enthusiastic fan was Pulse's staff who were giddy as school children and as proud as new papas.
Being surrounded by amazing young adults, committed volunteers and talented staff is humbling. I am incredibly lucky my wonderful wife, Angela, supports all this craziness as the activity is basically a second job. I look forward to seeing the Pulse family in the lot. Thank you Pulse and POW Percussion!
